Throughout the week, these promising artists work with master teachers in their field to share their talents with the public at New World Center and the YoungArts Campus.

"Elemental" and other works Presented by Dance Now Miami

Earth, air, fire, and water are basic to human life on this planet, and have been considered sacred by cultures across the world back to antiquity. These classical “elements” serve as inspiration for Dance NOW! Miami’s Co-Artistic Director Diego Salterini’s world premiere, "Elemental", an investigation of personal, societal and global issues. The evening will also showcase world premieres of guest choreographer Daniel Lewis' "Women II" and Angela Gallo's "Those Things...," and Dance NOW!

The Nutcracker Presented by Thomas Armour Youth Ballet & New World School of the Arts

TAYB’s Nutcracker ballet is more than a holiday tradition with familiar music. Students from all five TAYB sites start preparing for “The Nutcracker” in August, rehearsing weekly and learning the ropes of being in a large scale, full-length ballet production. The cast of over 140 includes New World School of the Arts students in the more advanced roles, along with world-class guest stars, guaranteeing both quality and a level of diversity not seen in other local productions of The Nutcracker. Our goal is to make certain all children in the audience see performers on stage who look like them. Over 7,000 public schoolchildren experience this production annually. The region’s first Sensory-Friendly Nutcracker was launched by TAYB in 2013. Through this effort, TAYB has become a leader by the local arts community in making the arts accessible to all children.

Flamenco Puro: Flamencas En La Luz Presented by South Miami-Dade Cutlural Arts Center

Accompanied by her troupe Flamenco Puro and a roster of superb musicians, this is flamenco as it was meant to be - intimate, soulful, alive.

SIUDY BAILAORA Presented by Arsht Center

New Work World Premiere - Bailaora – within me, within you is as sophisticated and nuanced as it is simple: A work conceived between the meeting of yesterday, today and tomorrow. This act embodies Siudy Garrido's personal vision of the evolution of flamenco. Step into the perspective of purity, envisioned through the movements of an impure dancer launching her spirit into a lifetime journey. Bailaora pokes on the genuine path of Flamenco, through dance and music, and takes a step beyond what is already established, making it as metaphorical as it is real. The spectator will follow an emotional road map through dance, absorbing timeless experiences that become an artistic AWAKENING. Set to newly composed music by Juan Parrilla, who blends traditional flamenco music with modern elements to create a subtle texture of fusion with the visceral fabric of traditional flamenco. The result is a resounding humanist and feminist commentary on self-invention and self-determination, revealing the vulnerability and inner strength of a warrior whose only weapon is her art.

Diavolo | Architecture in Motion Presented by Arsht Center

Seen by over 95 million people as a top 10 finalist on NBC’s America’s Got Talent, DIAVOLO shatters boundaries and soars beyond the grasps of gravity. Led by the inventive genius of Artistic Director Jacques Heim and his fearless, athletic daredevils, the Los Angeles based company continues to push a new edge of performance. With a unique style that encompasses dance, acrobatics, and gymnastics, DIAVOLO explores the relationship between the human body and its surrounding architectural environment. VOYAGE is DIAVOLO’s newest adventure, inspired by travels in space and the 50th Anniversary of the first Moon Landing. A young woman dreams of traveling distances only astronauts can, escaping from the ordinary world into a surreal landscape of infinite possibilities. Gravity-defying bodies join her on the journey in a universe that is alive with kinetic energy, fantastical whimsy, and surprising transformation. TRAJECTOIRE takes the audience on a visceral and emotional journey through the ebb and flow of the human experience. As the performers struggle to find their balance on a voyage of destiny and destination, the work shows the transcendence of the human soul against all odds.
