What is Culture Shock Miami?Ā

Culture Shock Miami is designed to introduce the next generation of audience members to live arts and cultural experiences at the age when they are beginning to make their own decisions about entertainment options. Based on research that shows most people begin their appreciation for the arts at a young age, Culture Shock Miami is founded on the premise that when teens and young adults make the arts a regular entertainment choice, they are more likely to become the full-price ticket buyers and subscribers of the future.

Who are Culture Shock Miami Partners?Ā

More than 200 organizations throughout Miami-Dade County partner with us to offer cultural experiences to teens and young adults ages 13-22. From hip-hop to Handel or Bach to ballet, we are committed to offering a diverse variety of events and exhibitions thanks to the generosity of our Cultural Partners.

How does the Partner program work?Ā

Cultural Partners donate tickets to performances, events, and museums, which we then make available to teens/young adults ages 13-22. Tickets are $5 and are only available through our website.Ā  A 13-22 year old can purchase a $5 ticket for themselves and then purchase a second $5 ticket for someone of any age to accompany them.

For ticketed events, we end sales at 3:00pm the day of the performance. Sales of weekend performances end at 3:00pm on Fridays. Shortly afterwards, a list of Culture Shock ticket buyers is emailed to the contacts you designate in the online form. The list is sent from reports@ticketweb.com, so please be sure to add to your contacts. Culture Shockers will arrive at your venue with their email confirmation of purchase and a form of ID as proof of age. A list of accepted IDs is available here.

As a partner you will be invited to participate in the annual partner meeting which typically takes place in September. During the meetings we welcome your feedback and enjoy brainstorming and sharing ideas!

Marketing opportunities

We distribute a weekly email of upcoming events and opportunitiesĀ  to nearly 20,000 opt-in subscribers, as well as have close to 15,000 followers of @cultureshockmia on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. (Feel free to sign up for our emails.)

Events are posted to the website every Friday afternoon. Events submitted by 12pm (noon) on Fridays (that are occurring in the following 2 weeks) typically can be included in the following week's email that goes out to our opt-in subscribers and/or be featured in our social media post(s) the week of the event. We suggest submitting your event via the online form at least three weeks prior to your event in order for it to be included in several cycles of our promotional efforts.

All of our partners are featured in the Partner section of our website.

The Culture Shock Miami Student Advisory Council blog team would love to learn and write about your organization! To request coverage in the blog, complete the request form on the Blog page.
