Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami Black Box Performance

The Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami (CCBM), Artistic Director, Eriberto Jimenez, is gearing up for an exciting 2019 Season presenting a preview of upcoming works in their Miami Beach annual Performance at the Fillmore Miami Beach Jackie Gleason Theater Black Box Room, on Thursday, April 18 at 8:00 pm. CCBM will present new original choreographies by artistic director Eriberto Jimenez; “Yerma” based on the play by renowned Spaniard writer Federico Garcia Lorca, that tells the story of a childless woman living in rural Spain, her desperate desire for motherhood becomes an obsession that eventually drives her to commit a horrific crime, performed to life music by Guitarists Alberto Puerto and Ivet Riscart. “Bolero Suite” remembering the golden age of this musical genre, known for its lyrical allusions of life, love, tragedy and passion. The program will also include “Lecuona Suite”, and other works.

Rosie Herrera Dance Theatre - Carne Viva Presented by Miami Light Project

A quartet originally developed to be a part of Make Believe, Carne Viva is an exploration into the violence of transcendence. Loosely translated to mean “open wound” Carne Viva builds upon the themes of religion and romance for a work that is much sparser and physical than Herrera’s previous work.

Brutal and elegant, Carne Viva is a visceral journey into the dichotomy of power within relationships.

Flamengo 2019: Prendidos by Compañía Alfonso Losa Presented by CCEMiami and MDCA

A cast of internationally acclaimed artists will take us to a journey through the different palos of flamenco using the three basic pillars: guitar, song and dance. "Prendidos" (Lit) is a pure process, is the life itself on stage performed by the bailaor Alfonso Losa; guest dancer Vanesa Coloma; guitarist Jose Luis de la Paz and Ismael Fernández vocals. Spring Ballet Gala Presented by Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida

Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida, under the direction of Ballet Master Vladimir Issaev ends its season with Spring Ballet Gala, a classical repertoire that only high quality dancers can perform. ​The repertoire includes original works such as “A Celebration to Klimt” with the wondrous music of Handel, a new and renovated version of “Taiko”, with accompanying Japanese drumming. Plus, the program will include the reposition of Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” all exceptional choreographic works by Vladimir Issaev.

Spring Concert Presented by Thomas Armour Youth Ballet

Thomas Armour Youth Ballet (TAYB) is excited to present the 2019 Annual Spring Concert. The theme of this year’s concert is based on the 1980s to the present time. The concert will include performances by TAYB’s advanced level students, TAYB’s Tap Team and alumni who will return to our stage as special guest artists.

Pieces featured will include a 1980s themed ballet choreographed by Gerard Ebitz, excerpts from Paquita, and original choreography by our lead ballet teachers Mariana Alvarez and Rosario Suarez.

Macho Man XXI part of OUT IN THE TROPICS 2019 Presented by FUNDarte

FUNDarte presents Out In The Tropics 2019, a performing arts series featuring artists who approach issues of gender politics, sexuality, and LGBTQ identity.

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, Out in the Tropics will present the premiere in Miami of Macho Man XXI, by Tania Pérez-Salas Dance Company (Mexico) on May 4th at 8.30p.m. & 5th at 3:00 p.m. at Mid-Stage at Miami Dade County Auditorium.
