The 2020 Spring Concert presented by Thomas Armour Youth Ballet. Advaned students and alumni from professional dance companies will perform classical and original choreography. Join us on Saturday, April 4th at 7 pm and Sunday, April 5th at 2 pm at New World School of the arts.

A MODERN RAT PACK WITH WORLD CLASS TAP - The Tap Pack is an elegant and entertaining nod to the Rat Pack era featuring high energy performances of mind-blowing tap dancing, smooth vocals, a swinging live jazz band and witty on-stage banter. The five-member cast wins the audience from the first downbeat and the pace of their amazing performances never slows. They joke, they compete, they croon and they cajole while performing cool classics with a fresh twist.

The Russian National Ballet has been bringing timeless ballet classics to the stages of North America since 1999. Founded in Moscow during the transitional period of Perestroika in the late 1980s, the company uses their new-found creative freedom, influenced by the political movement, to invigorate the tradition of Russian Ballet with new developments in dance from around the world. Founded by artistic director of legendary Bolshoi principal dancer Elena Radchenko, the company focuses on upholding the grand national tradition of the major Russian ballet works continuing to enlighten, inspire, and entertain audiences worldwide. The Sleeping Beauty, is often considered the finest achievement of the Classical ballet with a grandiose and refined blending of the traditional mime, expressive pas d'action and spectacular divertissements in a lavish theatrical setting. Tchaikovsky was delighted with the invitation to write the music for a ballet based on Charles Perrault's well-known fairy tale replete with a king and queen, fairies both good and evil, a beautiful princess and dream prince, magical stage effects, and courtly splendor.

Back again by popular demand...Flamenco Sephardit returns to Miami Beach's Temple Emanu-El for a 7th consecutive year. This show has delighted and amazed over 10,000 people around the world since it began in 2014. This year the producers welcome back opera star Audrey Babcock and dancer Jorge Robledo to the cast. Flamenco master Jose Moreno also joins the cast this year! A phenomenal cast of Flamenco dancers, guitarists, strings and percussion promises to leave you on the edge of your seat!

Choreographer and AIRIE Fellow 2018 Dale Andree will activate the shores of Long Pine Key with a new, never before performed interactive dance performance, focusing on tempo and the flow of movement that comes with congregating and separating. Audience members, musicians and dancers will interact during this call and response activation of the pinelands, followed by a Q&A in the newly renovated Long Pine Key Amphitheater.

THE COMMUNE is a dance performance fusing and integrating physical theater, dance, and film. THE COMMUNE chronicles a society that lives under emotional repression. The characters of THE COMMUNE within this totalitarian regime try to reveal themselves, using body language instead of the word. Dance as a mechanism of survival becomes an emotional weapon in relief to freedom.

Critically acclaimed for their stirring performances, Ailey II’s brilliant young dancers have captivated audiences for over four decades. Led by Artistic Director Troy Powell, the company brings Alvin Ailey’s timeless classics and thrilling new works by outstanding emerging choreographers to cities across the country and internationally. With powerful performances rooted in a steadfast creative vision, Ailey II brings a fresh dimension to the Ailey spirit.

Michelle Dorrance is one of the most sought-after tap dancers of her generation and “one of the most imaginative tap choreographers working today” (The New Yorker). Under her direction, Dorrance Dance upholds the traditions of tap dance, a uniquely American art form, while propelling them forward rhythmically, technically, and conceptually. You've seen her perform with Stephen Colbert on television, now MacArthur "Genius" award recipient Michelle Dorrance and Bessie award-winner Nicholas Van Young bring tap into the age of electronic music in their internationally acclaimed collaboration, ETM: Double Down. With a musical score triggered by the company of eight dancers' fabulous footwork, ETM: Double Down takes the uniquely American dance form of tap to a new level. Tap has always been a way of talking to the stage, but with Van Young's electronic tap boards, the stage is now able to talk back as every step, swipe, and scrape sets off an element of sound - turning the entire stage into a musical instrument. The score is not simply danced to, but danced BY the company.
