Christiana Lysistrata Presented by Main Street Players

Life in the Middle Ages isn’t so different from today. Christiana Lysistrata is a somewhat modern twist on the Greek comedy, Lysistrata. Christiana defies societal norms by daring to read the Bible as a woman, and worse without a priest to tell her what it all means. Fed up with the violence of the crusades and the witch hunts of “heretics" she bands together with the women in her town to end the violence by using their wits and their womanly wiles to entice the men into peace. Watch the comedy unfold as we see how these women stand up for their cause and claim their power in a man driven world.

His local commander, Comrade Bucket, a puppet named after an enameled Soviet bucket, encourages him to embrace the collective ways of living. But when the Soviet Union empire begins to crumble, so too does Timur’s Soviet identity. Willy Wonka Jr. Presented by Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center

North Miami, Florida – JCAT Youth Actors will transport Miami to a “world of pure imagination” with their production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR., a musical based on Roald Dahl’s timeless children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, on January 28, 31 & February 1 & 4 at the Alan & Diane Lieberman Theater. In Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR., a world-famous reclusive candy man named Willy Wonka announces that he will offer the tour of the lifetime through his secret chocolate factory to five children who find a golden ticket in one of his world-famous candy bars. One ticket-holder will also win a lifetime supply of chocolate. Against all odds, an impoverished but sweet-natured boy named Charlie Bucket wins a golden ticket. He and his fellow tour members — the spoiled-rotten Veruca Salt, gluttonous Augustus Gloop, gum-chewing Violet Beauregarde and television junkie Mike Teavee — spend a day traveling with the mysterious and marvelous Willy Wonka and his crew of Oompa Loompas through the fantastical factory. The children encounter marvelous sights and tastes along the way, including giant nut-selecting squirrels, fizzy lifting drinks, Everlasting Gobstoppers, and a chocolate river. But each stop proves to be a test, as only one can go on to win the Wonka prize.
