Live Arts Labs Alliance Open Studio Presented by Live Arts Miami

Announcing the return of the Live Arts LABS Alliance (LALA) program, a community for diverse Miami artists and performance enthusiasts to nurture their craft, share insights, push boundaries, and connect with kindred spirits. LALA aims to serve as a space of gathering and exploration for Miami’s community of performing artists. Step into the unknown and activate the space within an improvisational framework, guided by established creators during monthly sessions. The introductory sessions will be led by Octavio Campos, a Miami-based creative instigator, who will delve into the transformative power of embodiment in fostering care, community, and self, creating a free-flowing space of no judgment and the freedom to just be. LALA Open Studio is free and open to everyone. All that is required is for you to bring your authentic self, curious body and an open mind. Let’s move, create, and explore together! Liquid City Presented by Fantasy Theatre Factory

Antiheroes Project, in collaboration with Sandrell Rivers Theater, presents “Ciudad líquida - Liquid City”. Abandoned by the surgeon in the middle of a delicate surgery, the young patient waits in the hospital, oblivious to his responsibility in the unusual incident. It is heavily raining in the city, but he can barely move his head to look through the hospital window. An immersive theater experience, in Spanish with English language supertitles. “Liquid City” will offer accommodations for the general audience and the disability community, including: Bilingual supertitles, bilingual large print programs, braille programs, assistive listening devises and guided touch tours for the blind and low vision individuals. You’ve heard about founding fathers Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, Hamilton and Madison. Have you heard about Prince Whipple, Wentworth Cheswell, Colonel Tye, Sojourner Truth and Phillis Wheatley — the forgotten founding fathers of Black history? The Forgotten Founding Fathers is a theatrical, hip-hop dance odyssey written and produced by Karl "Dice Raw" Jenkins that explores American history through the lens of African American heroes during some of the country's most pivotal times, including the American Revolution, Civil War and Reconstruction. This captivating show spotlights heroes such as Prince Whipple, Wentworth Cheswell, Colonel Tye, Sojourner Truth and Phillis Wheatley. Unlike other historical education that highlights the pain and suffering of African Americans, The Forgotten Founding Fathers aims to teach the contributions of African Americans to the country. BOURBON AT THE BORDER looks at the lives of two ordinary people who gave everything they had to the African American freedom struggle but who have now been largely forgotten. In telling May and Charlie’s story, BOURBON AT THE BORDER puts a human face on the unknown soldiers of the civil rights movement by refusing to romanticize them even as it honors their specific sacrifices and the price they paid.
