Miami International Ballet Competition - 5th Edition

Founding Artistic Directors Vladimir Issaev and Yanis Pikieris are proud to announce the fifth edition of the Miami International Ballet Competition (MIBC), to be held from January 19 to January 23, 2022 back at their original venue, the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater. FREE attendance to all competition rounds. Competition Rounds Start Time (approximate): Wed. January 19th: 6:00 pm Thurs. January 20th: 2:40 pm Fri. January 21st: 2:40 pm Sat. January 22nd: 10:35 am Sun. January 23rd: 10:30 am FREE attendance to Miami International Ballet Celebration, where international guest artists will share the stage with the awarded dancers. Performance will begin approximately at 6:30 pm on Sunday, January 23rd. All MIBC events will comply with requirements from the C.D.C. with the aim of maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all contestants and the public. An Evening in White Presented by Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami

The Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami (CCBM), will present the second program of the season, "An Evening in White", on Saturday, January 29, at 8:00 pm. at the Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater. In this classic performance the CCBM will highlight pieces from some of the most famous romantic 19th Century "White Ballets" featuring guest Cuban Principal Dancers, CCBM Corp de Ballet with beautiful Costumes and scenery, including: Les Sylphides, Giselle (II Act Pad de Deux), Swan Lake (II Act Pas de Deux), Bayadere (Kingdom of Shades). In the first half of the 19th century a current of romantic thoughts emerge in literature and the arts, creating a new relationship with nature and exalting the ideals of purity and innocence. The Ballet is impregnated with a magical atmosphere where unrequited love, the moon, death, the realm of the spirit and the mysteries of nature predominate, thus the so-called "White Ballets" emerge. Second Annual Heritage Dance Collective Presented by AHCAC

The African Heritage Cultural Arts Center’s Winds of Heritage Dance Company presents the Second Annual Heritage Dance Collective, a celebration of diversity and inclusion in dance, and triumph and resilience in the dance community. This dance concert features timeless choreographic masterpieces that highlight the contributions, dedication, and accomplishments of some of South Florida’s most-noted choreographers, dancers, and emerging artists. This year’s Dance Collective showcases influential choreographers Zedric Bembry, Marguerita Gayle-Major, Lineen McDonald, Hattie Mae Williams, and features a special performance by Paunika Jones. Dance Collective highlights a variety of dance styles and musical genres, great talent, and storytelling in motion. The concert will be held on Wednesday, December 15th at 7pm at the Fantasy Theatre Factory at the Sandrell Rivers Theater, 6103 NW 7th Ave, Miami, FL 33127.

Stories for the Holidays featuring the Historic Works of Isadora Duncan & More Presented by Dance NOW! Miami

What better way to ring in the season than with a new program of current and historical works from one of Florida's leading contemporary companies, Dance NOW! Miami!? And that's just what audiences will get with their Program I, "Stories for the Holidays," on Saturday, December 11, at 8:00 pm, at the Miami Theater Center, in Miami Shores The evening will include a suite of reconstructed masterworks from dance pioneer Isadora Duncan, along with "Solstice," from guest choreographer Jon Lehrer, a revival of Artistic Co-Director Diego Salterini's "Three Moments in Time," with the South Beach Chamber Ensemble live onstage, and more. CuBlack: Invisibilized No Further!

CuBlack: Invisiblized No Further! is a dance performance experience that investigates the “invisibilized” oppression of Blackness inside the Miami Cuban community. The project intends to start a dialogue, as means of continuing to deconstruct, find solutions and formulate ideas that will lead to the dismantling of systematic racism in Miami.
