Haitian Flag Heritage Week Walking Tour

In celebration of May 18th which is Haitian Flag Day, free walking tours are available for the week of Sunday May 15th to Saturday May 21st for all educational institutions ranging from elementary school students to university students. The tours will highlight the history of the Haitian flag from the time of Bwa Kayiman ceremony to the present. Drag Queen Story Hour Presented by Miami Beach Pride

Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is just what it sounds like— a drag queen reading stories to children in libraries, schools, bookstores and even here in a park! Angel Elektra (she, her/they, them), Storyteller/Founder & Executive Director of DQSH Miami will be reading some of her favorite children’s books and providing craft supplies and guidance to create unicorn hats. Open to all ages and sensory abilities capture the imagination and play of the gender fluidity of childhood with a glamorous, positive, and unabashedly queer role model. *15 minutes has been built into the program to end at 3:15 pm to enable time to complete your craft project!

Storybook Picnic Presented by Miami Dade College Koubek Center

Picnic de Libros is a bilingual, family day program featuring storytelling, theatre, music, arts and crafts, dance, and picnic baskets full of books, free to keep. The event is free and its main goal is to expose kids to the richness and variety of the cultural traditions in our diverse community. These gatherings will tickle children’s curiosity while using the power of stories to bring people together, promoting literacy, and nurturing the next generation of engaged world citizens. We want to encourage kids to read and develop a passion for books and literature. Culminating each day, we will serve a special picnic with blankets on the lawn and baskets full of books, in both Spanish and English, to take home. Picnic de Libros is produced by the Koubek Center and Fundacion Cuatrogatos, with the support of Miami Book Fair. Con cuentos, música y poesía los Picnic de Libros presenciales en el Koubek Center. El picnic de libros es un evento multidisciplinario, bilingüe y gratuito, que busca acercar a los niños a la literatura y las artes, a través de cuentos, poemas, manualidades, trabalenguas, adivinanzas, música y además, habrá cestas de picnic llenas de libros, para leer y disfrutar.

Collision of Rhythm Presented by SMDCAC

Two guys, 19 instruments, and the irresistible power of rhythm. Collision of Rhythm combines the unique talents of two performers into a high-energy show that has been described as “Stomp meets Blue Man Group meets Cirque du Soleil.” Tap-dancing, jazz and classical instrument virtuoso Aaron Williams and beatbox juggling star Bronkar Lee create a joyous, interactive, family-friendly show that celebrates musical and human connection.
