The year 2019 marks the 90th birthday of George Crumb. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Music (1967), Cannes Classical Award for the “Best CD of a Living Composer” (1998), Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Composition (2001) as well as many other awards and accolades, George Crumb is undoubtedly one of the most important living American composers. A pioneer of new sounds and timbres, Crumb uncovers unexplored dimensions of creative expression in his music while building upon centuries of tradition and excellence. Crumb's Cosmos, a series of events dedicated to honoring this great American master, is one of the two largest such celebrations happening nationwide in 2019.
