Colorfest 2020 Featuring Red Baraat Presented by SMDCAC
Celebrate the beginning of Spring at the Holi Colour festival with Red Baraat! Although the festival was originated in India, it is celebrated all around the world. Make it a day out with friends and family , enjoy the dance and live music on stage and relish delicacies from a variety of food vendors. Participants smear colored powder onto their friends and family as part of this festive tradition. The colors are non-toxic so have fun smearing them on your family members and friends. Participants also use water guns to squirt colored water as a fun way to celebrate.
RED BARAAT is a pioneering band from Brooklyn, New York. Conceived by dhol player Sunny Jain, the group has drawn worldwide praise for its singular sound, a merging of hard driving North Indian bhangra with elements of hip-hop, jazz and raw punk energy. Created with no less a purposeful agenda than manifesting joy and unity in all people, Red Baraat’s spirit is worn brightly on its sweaty and hard-worked sleeve.
Recommended attire is white, because it's going to get messy and colorful. Holi champions diversity and equality for all, bringing together people from all backgrounds, cultures and age groups.
