Pavel Steidl - Classical Guitarist Presented by Florida Guitar Foundation, INC

“Here we have a guitarist who knew how to laugh with the music and share the joke with his audience. But behind the entertainer lies a serious artist, whose extended composition in memory of Jana Obrovska proved fully capable of stirring emotions at the other end of the scale. Never was a standing ovation more richly deserved. Pavel Steidl had won the hearts and minds of a capacity crowd.” – Classical Guitar Magazine Born in Rakovnik, Czech Republic, Pavel Steidl first studied music at the Conservatory of Prague, before becoming a student of the great Stepan Rak. Since his first prize at the Radio France International Competition in Paris in 1982, Steidl has become one of the most widely celebrated soloists of his generation, and currently enjoys a busy career as a soloist and teacher. In 1987 he emigrated to the Netherlands where after studying and getting inspiration from different artists, he developed his own style of playing while adhering to authentic ways of interpreting 19th-century guitar literature on period instruments. Maestro Steidl is also a distinguished composer for the instrument and his works are often featured on his concerts. Pavel Steidl has performed in more than 40 countries throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and has recorded several CD’s including three publications for the Naxos label, including the critically-acclaimed program of music by Luigi Legnani.
