Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music pairs piano, solo violin, and chorus in a radiant tapestry of Romantic lyricism. Eric Whitacre’s When David Heard offers an unaccompanied tour de force of vocal color and profound emotional depth. Buxtehude’s Baroque meditation Ad Manus is reimagined through Caroline Shaw’s contemporary response, To the Hands, weaving strings and voices into a striking dialogue across time. Together, these works explore beauty, grief, devotion, and the transcendent power of the human voice.
