However, weary of his persistent and puppy-like adoration, Adina impulsively agrees to marry Belcore, the swaggering sergeant of the regiment. In desperation, Nemorino seeks the aid of the traveling charlatan Dulcamara, investing both his hope and meager finances in a supposed “love potion.”
