Nu Deco NXT program - Spring Break Intensive

Nu Deco NXT program - Spring Break Intensive

Nu Deco NXT is a youth ensemble for 7th-12th grade students that applies the Nu Deco model of combining the traditional orchestral instruments (Strings, Winds, Brass, Percussion) with a full rhythm section (guitars, drums, keys) and performing works by living composers, rearranging works by innovative artists, and exploring improvisation and musical creation.

Nu Deco is currently accepting musicians in 7th – 12th grade to participate in the Nu Deco NXT Spring Break Intensive (March 28 – April 3) taking place at the Adrienne Arsht Center.

The full week, led by the Nu Deco creative team and teaching artists, will include rehearsals, improvisation, leadership and entrepreneurial workshops, and mindfulness and wellness practices that will culminate in a performance of the students alongside Nu Deco musicians. The intensive will take place at the Adrienne Arsht Center and will adhere to CDC and local government COVID safety procedures.

Participants will have a chance to safely learn and play alongside musicians of Nu Deco Ensemble while also experiencing 21st Century Performance, Improvisation, and Musical Wellness.

This week is provided at no-cost to all accepted students. Students will also be provided with meals and transportation assistance is available. All participants must practice social distancing and wear masks.

Students may register for the Intensive after auditioning for Nu Deco NXT here.
