Miami Light Project Presents Here & Now: 2020

See Miami Light Project’s signature commission program for Miami-based artists – Here & Now! Filmed and presented virtually for the first time, the program features newly commissioned short work from Miami’s freshest and most exciting emerging artists, who are working across disciplines to define contemporary performance in Miami.

 

Maya Billig – Brink
Brink is a contemporary dance work inspired by Orson Welles’s radio broadcast of “War of the Worlds” from 1938.

Loren Davidson & Britney Tokumoto – the invitation.
The Invitation is a new dance work that was created out of curiosity and a series of scores. Intention, loyalty, and willingness to show up for one another became a series of conversations around healing, connection, and experimentation.

Liony Garcia – Corporeal Decorum
Corporeal Decorum is a multimedia performance piece rooted in greater Miami that reimagines the relationship between cultural preservation and creative expression.

Chadwick Gaspard – B.M.M.O.
B.M.M.O. is a dance performance that tackles toxic masculinity through the lens of the black male and how this affects their development and ways of navigating through the world.

Maria “Mercy” Lopez – You Never Had U.S.
You Never Had U.S. is a choreographic work which speaks to the betrayal of Hispanic soldiers after sacrificing their lives for the United States Armed Forces.

Seth “Brimstone” Schere – RiDDLA
RiDDLA is a Hip Hop audioplay that utilizes the artistic elements of Hip Hop culture and includes rapping, DJ'ing, breakdancing and Urban “graffiti” Art.

Join us for Miami Light Project’s signature commission program for Miami-based artists, Here & Now: 2020, presented in collaboration with Wynwood Mural Fest!

After RSVP’ing you will be emailed on December 4 with instructions on how to view the Here & Now: 2020 performances and panel discussion with the commissioned artists and special guests artists including Teo Castellanos, Rosie Herrera and Rudi Goblen.

Please note the Here & Now performances will be accessible via the link provided on December 4 and streamed live on Miami Light Project's Facebook page in addition to Wynwood Mural Fest's Facebook and YouTube. We recommend you start watching at 7pm to be part of the live viewing experience. The panel discussion will precede the Here & Now performances.
