Koubek Center, in collaboration with Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator and Parris-Bailey Arts Inc., proudly presents “Yankee Bajan”, a play by Linda Parris-Bailey about the experience of an African American family in the U.S. with ancestral roots in Barbados.
Through live performance and musical references from Brooklyn to Barbados, “Yankee Bajan” takes audiences on a journey as the family dreams of a Bajan past and a Barbadian future.
The narrative centers around a family that leaves the United States to reconnect with their Bajan roots. It's a vivid portrayal of the expatriate experience, delivered with passionate live performances and musical references spanning from Brooklyn to Barbados. The play doesn't just present a journey across the ocean; it's a journey into the heart of what it means to belong.
