FAQs

What is Culture Shock Miami?

Culture Shock Miami is a program of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. Our mission is to encourage students ages 13-22 to attend arts performances, cultural events, and museums all around Miami-Dade County.

Who’s eligible?

If you are a student between the ages  of 13-22, you can purchase Culture Shock Miami tickets. For each ticket purchased for someone within the eligible age range (13-22), a second ticket may be purchased for someone of any age. You must be able to provide proper identification to verify you are within the age range, in order to pick up your tickets at the venue’s box office.

How much does each ticket cost?

Students ages 13-22 can purchase a ticket for $5 for themselves and then can purchase a second $5 ticket for a friend or family member of any age to company them. Museum tickets are 2 for $5 (or $2.50/each).

How does it work?

Step 1. Check out the latest listings at www.cultureshockmiami.com.

Step 2. Remember to have a major credit card ready. If you don’t have one of your own be sure to get permission to use your parent’s or guardian’s card. Click on BUY and follow the prompts to order your tickets. Print the confirmation page. Take it and your ID (see list below for acceptable forms of ID) to the box office to pick up your tickets.

Step 3. If you are attending a show, arrive at the venue 30 minutes before the performance begins. If you are visiting a museum or attraction, make sure you check their hours before you go to make sure they are open when you wish to go. To pick up your tickets, student(s) within the age range of 13-22 MUST be present. You will need to show your printed email confirmation that displays your name and valid order number (and expiration date if a museum or attraction ticket) AND present one of the accepted forms of ID in order to pick up your tickets.

I see that there are no longer tickets available for the event that I want to attend. Is it possible to make more tickets available for $5?

Culture Shock Miami tickets are sold on a first come first served basis. While there are times when we receive more tickets to sell, this is rare. We recommend visiting the venue’s website or contacting the venue’s box office to inquire about availability. Please keep in mind that Culture Shock Miami tickets are ONLY available from our website. They are not available onsite or from any of our partners.

How can my parents and I make sure that the content is appropriate for someone my age?

Unless noted in the event description on our website, we believe that all content is appropriate for Culture Shock Miami audiences. If you have any questions about the appropriateness, please feel free to contact us at info@cultureshockmiami.com or contact the venue or producer of the event listed on our website.

How many tickets do you have for most performances?

The quantity of Culture Shock Miami tickets available varies. There is a limit of 4 tickets per transaction and for some events there may be a limit of 2 tickets per transaction. Remember that for every NON- 13-22 year old, there MUST be a 13-22 year old present (with ID) to pick up tickets. For example, if you purchase 4 tickets, at least 2 people using the tickets must be within the age range of 13-22.

When should I get my tickets?

You can buy your tickets online any time of the day. Procrastinators beware though, all sales close by 3:00 p.m. the day of the show, and by 3:00 p.m. on Friday for weekend shows.

Tickets for museums and attractions go on sale the first day of the month at 10:00 a.m. Popular museums and attractions tend to sell out very quickly. They are sold on a first-come first-served basis, and may be used for one visit during the month of purchase on any day that the museum or attraction is open. Make sure to check the operating hours on their website before arriving at the venue to verify that they are open on the day that you wish to visit.

I bought tickets, but can’t go.
